Adi Zilberstein
Tennis Coach in El Cerrito, California
Originally from Israel, my love for tennis began at age 9, leading me to train at various top academies in my home country. By my late teens, I had achieved the 2nd spot in a national tournament and competed internationally, which deepened my passion for the sport. My journey took me to Spain for further training and then to the United States, where I played singles and doubles for a Division 1 tennis team for 4 years. Now, I find immense joy in coaching and watching my students grow both in their skills and their appreciation for the game.

“By way of background, I have been playing tennis for over 50 years including playing in college. I currently coach a high school boys tennis team. Adi is an outstanding and dedicated teacher. First, he has tremendous enthusiasm for teaching and helping his student improve. Second, he has an excellent knowledge base and has a vision for where he is taking the student and their journey to get there. Third, he knows how to communicate that knowledge to his students in a relatable way and how to move them along on their tennis journey. If one way of explaining something does not click with the student, he will find another way to communicate the concept to the student. He is very encouraging but not in a false way. I very much recommend Adi.”

Before working with Adi I was a average high school tennis player. Decent serve, semi consistent ground strokes, out of control volleys, and a bad mental game. We’ve been working together for around a year and he has helped me master both heavy and fast groundstrokes with minimal error, a triple digit serve with a nasty kick serve on the side, volleys I feel confident putting the ball away, and a much improved mental game. Through working together Adi has helped me to become the best tennis player at my school, now playing singles #1. Definitely recommend Adi, very consistent with scheduling, easy and fun to work with, and will always help improve your game no matter your level.

Adi is the best tennis coach I’ve ever had, which is saying a lot as someone who grew up playing competitively and training with coaches at top junior programs in Southern California. I stopped playing when I was 13 and slowly picked the sport back up at 27. I found Adi on Thumbtack about a year later and never looked back. He broke down my strokes and built them back up, identifying and addressing lifelong bad habits that were ingrained in me in childhood. I have never encountered a coach who understands the mechanics of tennis, and who is able to actually coach players into form, like Adi. Highly, highly recommend to anyone who really wants to refine their game.

Adi stands out as an exceptional tennis instructor. After encountering several disappointing experiences with other coaches who merely had me striking the ball without providing any guidance, I discovered Adi. He places a strong emphasis on refining your technique to ensure continuous improvement in your tennis skills. His teaching methods are consistently innovative and he continually adapts them to cater to your specific requirements. His sessions are not only enjoyable but also provide a fantastic workout. I've noticed a consistent enhancement in my tennis strokes under his guidance. I wholeheartedly endorse Adi for tennis lessons.

Adi is a world class tennis coach. I started working with him to rebuild several fundamentals that I learned the wrong way. He patiently worked with me and improved my game and technique remarkably. He uses video recordings to deeply analyze your technique and track your improvements, which is not something I experienced with other coaches. Several people I play with have commented on how much I improved since I started working with him. He spends the lesson focused on improving your game the whole time, and he can 10x your game if you’re willing to put in the work. Can’t recommend him enough.

For the past few years I've felt that my tennis had stagnated. I was playing a lot but didn't feel like I was getting better. Through strong recommendations I started lessons with Adi since the beginning of the year and have been more than impressed with his thoughtful coaching and helpful lessons. All parts of my game have already notably improved and it's great to have someone who's really good -- not only as a player but as a coach -- tell you exactly what needs to change to get to the next level. Looking forward to further betting better with Adi!

Adi is an exceptional coach. My 13yr old son has been taking weekly lessons to work on technique and match tactics. Adi has a way of analyzing strokes and explaining court position that I haven't seen with any other coach. As my son has been playing more tournaments, Adi has helped him greatly with the mental aspects of the game too. His insights and strategies have been invaluable in this area. If you're serious about building a strong tennis game, including stroke fundamentals, game tactics and mental toughness, Adi is your coach!
