Gabriel Burroughs
I help players improve ball-handling, shooting, footwork, decision-making, and conditioning through basketball training in Markham, Ontario. I work with beginners through advanced players who bring a positive mindset and hard work ethic. With 22 years playing basketball, I grew…
up in New York streets and played at nationally ranked St. Raymond High School in the Bronx. As a senior guard, I ranked in the top 200 in the Tri-State area, averaged double figures, and shared a backcourt with current professional players Daniel Dingle and Devin Brooks. During that senior year, I played against Kadeem Jack, John Wall, Shane Southwell, Jermaine Sanders, Russ Smith, Mike Alvarado, and Omar Calhoun, who later played in college and professionally. At nationally ranked Division II Genesee Community College, I averaged double figures, made the All-Tournament team during our championship run, and played alongside Ervin Mitchell, Jason Perry Murray, and Rahsaan Williams, who also played professionally. I signed with ABA team NY Holy Storm but left during the 2015 preseason. My 60-minute sessions cover dynamic stretching, in-game decision-making, ball handling, shooting mechanics, shooting off the dribble, balance, layups, footwork, and conditioning, with beginner, intermediate, and advanced options. I train at Battle Arena, Can Sports, and RedDot Basketball in Markham. I provide two basketballs, resistance bands, and a jump rope. Book a lesson and let us get to work.
“Playing alongside Gabe in college was a huge part of my development as a player and as a competitor. We won a college championship together, and throughout that journey Gabe consistently pushed everyone around him to improve. His work ethic, leadership, and basketball IQ stood out every single day. What impacted me most personally was the time he invested in helping me sharpen my ball-handling and overall guard skills. The drills, attention to detail, and confidence he poured into me elevated my game tremendously and helped prepare me to compete at the next level. A lot of the growth that allowed me to move on to Division I basketball and eventually play professionally in top leagues across Europe came from the foundation and training habits developed during that time with Gabe. Beyond being a great player, Gabe is someone who genuinely wants to see others succeed. Any athlete working with him will not only improve their skillset, but also their mindset, discipline, and confidence on the court.”
